Year 3 Session 7, Week 4
The smell of brownies and fresh lumber has filled Active Leadership Academy this week! A lot of progress has been made on the new studio and we hope to be back in it next week. Our focus this week was strengthening our community by emphasizing core values. Core Values are the three to five values that define your belief system, and they help provide a framework for tough decisions. Examples of core values can be honesty, kindness, loyalty, positivity, etc. Eagles voted for their peers who exhibited kindness and loyalty. Congrats to Athen, Sophia, and Kristina for being voted "Kindness and Loyalty Champions" and earning an eagle buck!
LE Studio Update
Little Eagles learned about unicorn myths from around the world and equestrianism this week! They constructed models of horse farms with paper and popsicle sticks. There was a switch to calm and quiet free time in the mornings which helps LEs get in the right mindset for circle. Little Eagles also discussed "Ripples of Kindness". They did an experiment with water that demonstrated how simple acts can positively affect others and why a culture of kindness matters.
ES/MS Studio Update
This week quest was led by an MS eagle on the topic of "baking"! ES/MS baked brownies completely from scratch and they turned out delicious. There was also a baking competition where eagles got to pick a recipe of their choice. On Wednesday, during Scholar's Choice, those who wanted to participate played Jeopardy as a fun way to practice core skills. Congrats to Addy and Harper for winning the game and an additional 5 points for the week! In writer's workshop ES peer critiqued each other's creative fiction stories providing warm/cool feedback. MS wrapped up their last full week of civilization discussions and are so close to earning the "Tracing Goods Through History" badge!
