Year 4, Session 7, Week 2
Working hard and having fun is what our heroes do everyday! Both studios dived into their creativity this week through art, writing, reading, and playing games. Our learners are proud of the things they create and can’t wait to show their parents at pick up time!
In the Elementary Studio, they voted to have both art and PE twice a week. During their extra art time this week they learned the art of folding paper - origami! The heroes were able to pick their paper color and which video tutorial they wanted to try. Their creations have inspired some of our Little Heroes to want to try origami as well!
On Wednesday in the Montessori Studio, the learners baked a vanilla Oreo cake. They each took turns cracking eggs, pouring the ingredients, and stirring the batter. The final result was delicious!
During Writer’s Workshop, the ES heroes read “Green Eggs and Ham” by Dr. Seuss and “The Way Back Home” by Oliver Jeffers to compare word choice and art style. They applied what they learned through the discussion to their creative fiction stories. Our learners hope to engage their audience through both the plot and illustrations of the books they are creating.
For Quest time the ES heroes finished up their passion projects. They also wrote scripts on how they would present them at exhibition and practiced the delivery to their peers for feedback.
On Thursday, all of the learners participated in art and finished their rendition of George Rodrigue’s “Blue Dog” painting. The masterpieces are on display in the windows of the studio!
On Fridays we practice foreign languages in the Elementary Studio. Each hero has selected a language of their choice and dives into it for 30 minutes. They have been practicing speaking Spanish on the computer, but also with each other!
