Year 4, Session 7, Week 1
We have reached the last session of the year and summer break is rapidly approaching! The weather caused us to miss Wednesday, but we didn’t let that slow down our productivity. We even had two new heroes join us - welcome to Aubri and Leah!
During quest time this session the ES heroes will be pursuing passion projects. They picked an area of interest to them and set goals of what they’d like to present to guests at exhibition. They are exploring everything from art to airplanes!
The topic for writer’s workshop in session seven is “creative fiction”. The older learners will be using the website “storybird.com” to create fictional picture books. They have free reign to write about anything they choose! The final copies of the book will be printed out and we can’t wait to see what they come up with.
Our art project this week was Louisiana artist George Rodrigue’s “Blue Dog” painting. We watched a short video about George Rodrigue and saw examples of his work. They sketched the dog and began painting the background. They will finish the paintings next week.
On Friday, the heroes participated in baking a cake for Mrs. Tanksley’s birthday! They made a strawberry cake with sprinkles. It was a sweet way to end the week!
The Elementary Studio did yoga during our closing circle on Thursday!
