Year 4, Session 6, Week 5
It was a fun-filled four day week with many memories made. We are excited to wrap up the session next week, and for parents to see all the awesome things our heroes have been working on at exhibition!
During quest, the ES heroes have continued to maintain their garden and are anxiously awaiting for the butterflies to hatch from their chrysalises. They are continuing to track their decomposition experiments for changes in the chip, strawberry, and toilet paper that they placed in soil. The learners also went on a hunt for ladybugs to add to their garden beds in order to keep pests away and managed to find two!
In art, we learned about Pablo Picasso and his cubism style. The heroes watched a video and looked at several examples of cubism. Then they were able to create their own masterpieces using the same technique. Most chose to make a person, but we even had a dinosaur and a lollipop!
On Wednesday, we went on our field trip to AgMagic at LSU. There was a bit of a wait to get inside, but our heroes had a great time climbing trees, looking for bugs, and collecting leaves. Once inside, we got to experience several different exhibits on agriculture, forestry, and the wildlife in Louisiana. They loved getting to pet an alligator, chicks, goats, pigs and cows!
On Thursday, the ES heroes were able to celebrate meeting their challenge goals throughout the session with pizza and a movie! In the Montessori studio, they also had a celebration with a movie and candy. Charlie and Harper won the bonus prize of donuts by tying for the most session challenge points in the Elementary Studio!
