Year 4, Session 3, Week 3
This session was over in the blink of an eye! Session 3 was a short one, but it is onto Session 4 where the quest will be focused on chess! The Elementary Studio had a fabulous exhibition and we can’t wait to see what the next session brings!
Elementary Studio
It was exhibition week for the ES heroes and they put in a lot of preparation to ensure it was great! For writers’ workshop they revised their pitches and practiced delivering them. Each learner wrote a pitch trying to persuade the studio to get a pet rabbit. They researched the costs and needs of rabbits in order to make their pitch more convincing.
The ES heroes were able to demonstrate what they learned on the Cartography Quest at exhibition. They shared their World Fact books which compiled researched information on 7 different countries of their choice. Each learner also drew a map of a different continent and presented that, with facts about that continent, to parents and guests.
Thank you to everyone who attended! The ES heroes received great feedback and are excited to make next session’s exhibition even better!!
Little Heroes Studio
In the Little Heroes studio, when a conflict arises they get the “Peace Rose” . The person who grabs the rose asks the other person to talk about the problem with them. Only the person who is holding the rose can speak. Each learner takes a turn saying how they feel and how they would like to resolve the issue going forward. It is a beautiful thing to witness our youngest heroes resolving their own disagreements!
They enjoyed outside time through playing board games outside and taking care of the plants! They spend time carefully removing the dead parts of leaves and watering the plants for the classroom.
On Friday, they had a boys vs girls competition where each team decorated a box for us to collect donations to the Food Bank. Mrs. Molley voted and chose the girls as the winners! If you would like to donate non-perishables or canned goods the boxes are set up in the lobby.
