Year 4, Session 6, Week 6
That’s a wrap on Session 6 and we are rolling into the last session of the year! Our heroes have worked hard in core skills and are aiming to meet those end of the year badge plan goals. We covered topics such as plant cells, the life cycle of a butterfly, and how to write a gratitude letter. We got our hands dirty planting a garden in the back of the school, but also through painting like Monet in art. Our learners are so excited to see what the next session brings!
In art we decorated wooden spring wreaths this week. The heroes first colored the wreaths to give them texture, and then went over the crayon with watercolor paint to give it a nice “pop”! They were able to take them home so they can enjoy their decorations over spring break.
On Wednesday the Little Heroes baked an oreo confetti cake. Before they began baking, those who knew how to tie knots helped the others put on their aprons. They took turns cracking eggs, crushing cookies, adding ingredients, and mixing the batter. It was a delicious afternoon snack!
On Thursday we had a fun-filled egg hunt! Our heroes were being extra kind and helping those who hadn’t found many eggs yet. Afterwards they counted their eggs and traded prizes. It was a great experience in teamwork and friendship.
The Elementary Studio ended the week with their session 6 exhibition. The learners were able to explain the various experiments they conducted, and show off the gardens they planted to friends and family. During the exhibition, our heroes released the butterflies they raised from caterpillars into their gardens. We are hopeful that the butterflies will continue to visit us!
We hope everyone had a safe and FUN spring break!
