Year 3 Session 6, Week 6
The eagles only had a 4 day school week so exhibition prep was a whirlwind! They worked towards wrapping up their pieces for writer's workshop and their projects for quest. Overcoming the obstacles of resistance, distraction and victimhood has been a focus this week as they push through on their hero's journey.
LE Studio Update
Little Eagles put their engineer hats on this week as they designed propeller cars! They tested several different designs using various materials before finding one that worked. LEs also discussed what it means to be kind and examples of ways you can show kindness to others. A "Kindness Garden" is displayed on the studio wall where they can add a butterfly when they exhibit kindness. This has been a great visual to promote positivity among their community.
ES/MS Studio Update
That's a wrap for session six! 360 reviews are in ES finalized their three sets of instructions for technical writing in Writer's Workshop. Using their strengths in capitalization, grammar, spelling, punctuation and organization, they divided and conquered giving each other peer feedback. In circle, we discussed whether it is more important for an author to write directions clearly or the reader to follow them carefully. ES have also experimented with different obstacle course designs for their robots to go through during exhibition. MS eagles have prepped launches and lessons that they will lead for ES as part of their Growing Curiosity quest in session seven. It will be exciting to watch their leadership skills grow as they share topics of their interest with their peers!
