Session 5 Week 2 Year 5

The heroes did a phenomenal job of working hard and showing leadership this week as it was a shorter week, but Ms. Gigi was out sick for half of it. The older heroes stepped up in leading civ, helping the Montessori studio, and staying focused during quest. Mrs. Tanksley would like to give each hero a character callout for their responsibility this week!

Quest

Both studios have enjoyed exploring electricity through circuit boards and online simulators. The learners are figuring out how to make fans work, lights turn on, and buzzers sound through trial and error. They get so excited when their hard work pays off and they accomplish a challenge they have been working on!

Little Heroes 

In the Little Hero’s studio, we read the books “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” and “Green Eggs and Ham” during DEAR. The learners requested that the mouse from the story join us on the circle! During sparks play, their imaginations went wild as they created giant squids and explored the work off of the shelves. They ended the day with guided breathing meditation and yoga!

Art

In art, we continued to explore Brazil but this time with the theme of carnival! Our heroes watched a video about Brazil’s most famous holiday and then designed their own carnival floats using a variety of craft supplies. There was so much creativity and each float was unique!

PE

PE began with “The Floor is Lava” then the heroes played a game called “Infection”. Afterwards, they calmed their bodies while taking turns leading yoga!

Lunch Limo

Harper and Aubri traded in their hero bucks for a lunch limo to Cane’s!
