Year 3 Session 7, Week 1
Spring is here and creativity is blooming at Active Leadership Academy! Eagles put their imaginations and ingenuity to the test this week. We've seen amazing ideas take form through creative writing, research, and inventing. Our focus has been on intentionality to ensure we are using time wisely and producing excellent work. ES/MS eagles that were intentional during core skills time, and earned 200+ points this week, received video game time on Friday!
LE Studio Update
LEs learned about dinosaurs and archaeology during quest time. Our little paleontologists carefully studied fossils they made themselves out of clay. They also designed mini dinosaur models exhibiting their individual style! Later in the week, when it warmed up, LEs enjoyed painting outside using stencils. DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) time has been a great source of bonding between the little eagles and ES. ES eagles have been volunteering to read to them and they love it!
ES/MS Studio Update
ES began their creative writing session in writer's workshop. They will create stories using pictures from Storybird as inspiration. This week's quest was planned and led by an MS eagle! ES and MS researched real world problems and designed inventions to help solve them. Presentations were given on ocean pollution, mosquitoes, world hunger, and wildfires. MS had excellent civilization discussions this week on the Magna Carta, the Golden Age of Islam, and the Black Plague. They have been making a conscious effort to challenge their opinions and argue for an opposing viewpoint.
