Session 2 Weeks 4 and 5 Year 5
We officially wrapped up Session 2 and our heroes will display what they learned during the E-ship Quest at the Children’s Business Fair on November 2nd! We are moving onto our Survivor Quest for Session 3 in preparation for the camping trip November 23rd!
Quest
The ES learners practice financial decision making with the game Cashflow For Kids. They were able to see the results of investments and financial losses. The heroes also began final preparations for the Children’s Business Fair. They worked on displays for their booths and created prototypes of their products. Whether it was art, soap, or crocheting, the studio was beaming with creativity! As the session ended they completed 360 feedback on their peers so that everyone could go into the next session knowing what they could improve on and are doing well.
Writer’s Workshop
In Writer’s Workshop, the ES heroes finished their 6 word memoir and created an illustration to go along with it. They also read several examples of six word memoirs on a poetry website and critiqued them for word choice, organization, and subject matter. The memoirs will be presented to their parents during the parent meeting on October 18th!
PE
We have been enjoying this nice weather and had part of PE outside. The heroes played basketball and jump roped! Inside they played a game called “Sharks and Minnows” in the dojang!
Cooking
In Week 4 Mrs. Molley brought fruit for the heroes to make their own fruit kabobs! The learners were able to cut the fruit into fun shapes using cookie cutters and place them on the skewers themselves. The following week we baked a birthday cake for Mrs. GiGi! Happy birthday Mrs. GiGi!
Art
The learners completed a Canadian still life drawing this week! We had a real maple syrup bottle from Canada on display next to a bundt cake. Our heroes sketched all of the details first and then colored the pictures with colored pencils.
New Heroes
Eden and Jude completed their trials and both were voted to join their respective tribes. Eden will be in the Elementary Studio and Jude will be in the Little Heroes studio. Welcome Eden and Jude to HJA!
