Session 2 Week 2 Year 5
This week both studios began diving into business! The Little Heroes began working with money values and counting currency. The Elementary School heroes started preparing their businesses for the Children’s Business Fair November 2nd.
Quest
In quest, the ES heroes began learning about fixed period costs, variable costs, and sunk costs so they could price the product or service they are selling in the business fair. Their goal is to make a profit by the end of the fair after paying back their parents for start up costs.
ES Comms
In comms this week we began working on six word memoirs. These memoirs will tell powerful stories about our heroes’ lives in only six words. We began mind mapping descriptive words and action words.
Art
In art, we drew Lebanese coffee cups and modge podged them to a painted canvas. The learners also added their names in Arabic, the native language of Lebanon. These will be on display at our upcoming parent meeting in October!
Guest Speaker
Thank you to Ms. Banner for coming to speak to our learners about the country of Lebanon! She brought many artifacts from the country, wrote their names in Arabic, shared food for them to try, and taught them a native dance. It was so interesting and the heroes enjoyed it so much!
Cooking
Mrs. Molley prepared Thai mango sticky rice and grilled chicken on a stick for the learners to try on Friday!
Birthday Fun
Happy birthday to Harper and Zoey who celebrated their birthdays this week!
