Year 3 Session 7, Week 3
The school was under construction this week, but the eagles were flexible and made the best of it! We are excited to see our new and improved ES/MS studio when it is finished. Our focus was intentionality - doing something with a specific purpose. Eagles voted for peers who demonstrated hard work during Core Skills as "Intentionality Champions". Congrats to Kain, Kristina, Alexis, and Addy on being voted "Intentionality Champion" and earning an eagle buck! We also got to interact with some surprise visitors - baby turkeys!
LE Studio Update
Little Eagles explored different forms of art, and learned about some of the world's most famous artists and their masterpieces. "The Starry Night" by Vincent van Gogh, "Mona Lisa" by Leonardo da Vinci, and several other pieces were on display in the studio. They made works of art themselves through painting and drawing. LEs work hard and play hard! Learning through play helps build social skills and foster creativity.
ES/MS Studio Update
As part of the Growing Curiosity Quest, quest time this week was planned and led by an MS eagle. The topic for the week was "Appreciating Landscapes"! Eagles researched a landscape of their choice, created "mood boards" and made dioramas. During Writer's Workshop, we discussed which makes a story more memorable - the pictures or the words? ES continued drafting and revising their creative fiction stories. MS civilization discussions centered around the influence of salt, oil, and silver throughout history. Will we always need scarce, precious metals like gold and silver to store value or soon will all precious metals be replaced by bits and bytes on a computer screen, like bitcoins? What commodity today is comparable in economic, religious or cultural importance to salt and why? PE was a blast as usual with teamwork games and martial arts practice!
